As we all know there is a global pandemic that is going on right now. Meaning that we all have to wear our masks and be social-distancing from one another. But why are masks so important?

The CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) states, “COVID-19 spreads mainly from person to person through respiratory droplets. Respiratory droplets travel into the air when you cough, sneeze, talk, shout or sing. These droplets can then land in the mouths or noses of people who are near you or they may breathe these droplets in.”

This means that when you breathe it releases droplets of your germs and those can reach another person if you are not wearing your mask. It would also be best if people social distance because if you’re at least 6 feet apart these droplets can’t get to you and make you sick.

The CDC also states “Masks are a simple barrier to help prevent your respiratory droplets from reaching others. Studies show that masks reduce the spray of droplets when worn over the nose and mouth.”

What this means is that masks of course help prevent Covid-19 from spreading. Since masks are made to block all of the droplets we let out they help a lot. If people wear masks it should slow the spread, and if we slow the spread then we should be able to get the vaccines out more quickly. So, please wear your masks and social distance.
