Tsunami Advisory in California

Tsunami Advisory in California

On early Saturday morning of January 15th, 2022 a volcanic eruption occurred near the South Pacific nation of Tonga. This triggered tsunami advisories on the California coast. These advisories were canceled in some of the more coastal communities which included those in Los Angeles, Santa Cruz, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, and San Diego. Other areas including the beaches and marinas of the Bay Area and Orange County were temporarily closed as a precaution due to the larger waves. Santa Cruz Harbor had it the Worst in California. The tsunami waves rushed in at high tide, flooding streets and a parking lot. This is not very common as normally tsunamis are caused by earthquakes.
