Kenyatta Lee Frazier Jr, otherwise known as Ken Carson, is an American rapper and producer. He is best known for being signed with the record label Opium, and has been professionally producing music since 2018. Carson was born on April 11, 2000, in Atlanta, GA. In his early teen years, Carson started developing a liking for music. He took up the Jew’s Harp and Harmonica and his biggest inspirations were Soulja Boy, Lil Wayne, and Future. In his teen years, Carson dropped out of school to join a military academy at just 15; however, he ended up being kicked out for breaking the no-phone policy.
Years later, Carson learned that his old middle-school friend, Lil88, was related to hit producer TM88, who was behind albums such as Travis Scott’s “NightCrawler,” “Codeine Crazy” by Future, and Lil Uzi’s “XO tour Llif3.” The same day Carson toured TM88’s studio, he was signed to 808 Mafia which marked the start of his official career in music. Carson was now regularly associated with artists like Travis Scott, Young Thug, and even Playboi Carti, who was an essential part to his success. In Nov. 2019, Playboi Carti created a soon-to-be famous record label, Opium, which Carson would join shortly after. Carson would then move on to release two EPs: “Boy Barbie” and “Teen X”. In the month of July 2021, Carson released his first album: “Project X”, followed by “X”, which peaked at number 115 on Billboard 200. This is around the time he started to gain more recognition across the internet.
In Oct. of 2023, Carson released his fourth studio album, “A Great Chaos” which featured solos from Destroy Lonely and Lil Uzi Vert. Within the span of a few days, “A Great Chaos” was popularized by social media and streams skyrocketed as songs such as “Jennifer’s Body” and “Fighting My Demons” were used in the background of TikTok videos. Over the years, Carson gained recognition and fame for his unique musical style. Currently, Carson is planning to host the Chaos World Tour, an extensive run of dates visiting North America and Europe. Thanks to Ken Carson, the genre of hip-hop and rage rap has become even more popular and still continues to spread.
