Over the years, Parks Junior High has seen multiple principals come and go; and even though our principal from last year, Ms. Dustin, has sadly left us, we have a brand new principal to spice things up. This new principal, as many of you may know, is Mrs. Makely! As students of the Parks Panther Press, we were very excited to meet her in person and ask her a few questions.

Q: First of all Mrs. Makely, welcome to Parks!! How have you liked your first couple of weeks here?
A: “I have loved being at Parks so far.”

Q: About how long have you been teaching?
A: “I have been in education since 1997.”

Q: What is one goal you have to make Parks Junior High better?
A: “Parks is already a really terrific school. I would like for the entire community to see all the great things we do.”

Q: If you could give the students one piece of advice, what would it be?
A: “To always do your best and remember that you are greater than any obstacle you encounter.”

Q: How, or why did you want to become a teacher, or a principal?
A: “I always loved to learn. I enjoyed helping friends in school with subjects they didn’t understand. I became a principal to support teachers and help them positively impact more students than I could include in my own classroom.”

Q: What university did you go to, for your teaching credential?
A: “I attended UCSB for my undergraduate and attended Cal State Dominguez Hills for my teaching administrative credentials.”

Thanks Mrs. Makely for making our school better every day!
