In late April, Carmelo requested to join another team to compete. It wasn’t that big because Kyrie Irving already requested a trade from the Cavaliers during that time. Carmelo wasn’t enjoying losing so he wanted to play for a competitive team that will actually battle in the Playoffs. He felt passionate about helping a high level team. Although he was the focal point of the team, he was ready to move on and start winning as a team instead of losing consecutively.

Carmelo drops a two pointer in 3.1 seconds left in the game against the Charlotte Hornets. This shot was big because this was the shot that redeemed himself from the quarters before and eventually won them the game.

Carmelo started searching for a new team that was worth leaving. Carmelo Anthony opened to waiving his no-trade clause to join the Houston Rockets or the Cleveland Cavaliers. A question was, “Should those teams create a pathway to a deal with the New York Knicks.” After Chris Paul got traded to the Houston Rockets for Patrick Beverley, Sam Dekker, Lou Williams, Montrezl Harrell, Darrun Hilliard, DeAndre Liggins, Kyle Wiltjer, a 2018 first-round pick and cash considerations, Carmelo wanted to join Harden and Paul. Some serious talks were going on with the Rockets and the Cavaliers for a trade deal with their 10-time all star.

Carmelo headed to the Rockets to join Harden and Paul?

The next thing you know, the New York Knicks are pausing trade talks centered on Carmelo Anthony and want to pursue a conversation with the 10-time All-Star about possibly bringing him back into the organization. After talking with the Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers for nearly a month to help engineer deals for Anthony, the Knicks told both teams that they’re stepping back from trade talks. This, in fact, wasn’t a good thing to hear for both Rockets and the Cavaliers. Especially when Kyrie Irving was about to leave the Cavaliers. On August 22, Kyrie Irving was traded to the Boston Celtics in a blockbuster trade for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, a 2018 Brooklyn first round pick, and a 2020 Miami second round pick. This was a huge shock to both teams. After Kyrie Irving was traded, Carmelo remained silent. Waiting a couple of months, the Carmelo Anthony trade came back. Oklahoma City Thunder was interested and the Houston Rockets and the Cavaliers were still appealed to Carmelo. This was sure a battle between these three teams. Whoever wins gets the 10-time all star. After working super hard to get the 10-time all star on their team, the Cavs and the Rockets fell short. The Oklahoma City Thunder gained past these two teams and offered the Knicks Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott, and a 2018 second round draft pick. The Knicks accepted the trade on September 23 as Carmelo got ready to pack up his equipment and head over to the West to join Westbrook and George. ESPN said, the Thunder are moving on from Kevin Durant and recovering with Carmelo Anthony. During Carmelo’s press conference, he discusses why he chose Oklahoma Thunder and his freedom in OKC.

Are they the super team that has the NBA has been waiting for? Carmelo officially joins the Thunder to compete with the Warriors.

Paul George started talking about how much they are improving and about recruiting Wade into this team also. Although the Cavaliers are the first racer to land Wade, the Thunder are trying their best to land Wade and build a more better super team. This trade could be a real game changer for both teams, and the entire league itself. Are the Thunder enough to beat the Warriors? After this trade, people are asking about LeBron James. Where is he now? Is he going to leave Cleveland soon or will he stay? Many ESPN reporters think that LeBron may want to join a super team that can improve with LeBron’s skills. Words have been said about LeBron going to the Lakers with Paul George but Paul George might not even leave the Thunder since Carmelo has arrived. As the Oklahoma City Thunder get ready to compete this season against the Warriors, one questions remains. Are the Oklahoma City Thunder the team that is ready to put an end to the Warriors or are they a little short? We will see very soon.
