Dogs are much more than just snuggly and cute companions.  They are caring pets that can impact an owner’s life in many ways, including keeping one’s company. Although having a dog may seem like a lot of work, research continues to support the fact that having a pet can significantly change one’s mental and physical health.

Naturally, dogs are high energy companions that love to move around, go outside, and play. They inspire the owner to live a healthy lifestyle by meeting their dog’s needs. Research that was conducted by the American Heart Association reveals that dog owners are more likely to get the recommended amount of exercise than non-owners, due to the constant work required to take care of a dog. To improve an owner’s health, continuously going on walks and playing with their dog can be beneficial.

Owning a dog can also provide a sense of safety which leads to calmness which results in stress reduction. Being around dogs can  make people feel positive and tranquil, as they want to cuddle or be right next to someone. Additionally, dogs offer extra safety. The bond between humans and dogs is strong, as these are loyal pets. Since these animals are so devoted, they can also provide an owner with a sense of responsibility. From cleaning the dog to taking them to the veterinarian, these tasks allow the owner to learn the basics of how to care for a dog.

All in all, dogs are much more than a ball of cuteness. They are loyal pets that can benefit people in many ways, whether it is keeping one company to helping the owner get the right amount of exercise. And they retain the ability to provide the happiness we need in our lives and hopefully make our life complete.
