On Saturday, January 26th, the members of the Speech and Debate team went to Godinez High School in Santa Ana to compete in the Spring Classic Tournament. The speakers left for the tournament at 6:30 in the morning to compete for a tiring eleven and a half hours, only finishing at seven. Even though the team members will be competing for so long, they plan to brave through it and give it their all. After a two week break, the members have only had time to practice for another two weeks for this tournament. Even though they only meet once a week on Thursdays, the members work on their speeches and debates on their own in their own free time.

As soon as the members of the team got to the tournament and started their first rounds, they crushed the competition. Once the members of the team finished their first three rounds, it became a game of patience, waiting for the results of who got in to semifinals. More than three-fourths of the team got into semis. Once the semis were finished, the waiting game began again. As soon as the finals were posted, all the competitors ran to their rounds.

An hour later, the whole team was quite nervous, as they were lining out to go to the awards ceremony. While waiting for the awards to start the team sat in there section of the bleachers talking in between themselves when the awards started. An hour and a half later. The team left the gymnasium holding many first place trophies along with a ton of second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth place trophies and a ton of medals. The team also got second place overall as a large school. GO PARKS!
