The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, more commonly known as the Anaheim Ducks, are currently sitting dead last in the NHL. Randy Carlyle stated in an interview that “changes are of the utmost importance, and we want to get the Anaheim Ducks back into a playoff position.” Last season, the Anaheim Ducks finished first in the Pacific Division, somehow notching 107 points to take the number one spot away from the Kings, who had 101. As it is very unlikely that the Ducks will make a comeback, one may think it is safe to say that the Anaheim Ducks will not be apart of the 2019 NHL playoffs.

As the Anaheim Ducks currently sit last in the league, the Ducks’ General Manager, Bob Murray, states “Changes will need to be made. We are currently last in the NHL, and that’s positivity not where we deserve to be.” He also went on to state that the next few years will be rebuilding years. A rebuilding year is where a team aims for trades and development, instead of for the glory of winning. In fact, the rebuilding aspect of the team has already taken place. Sending Corey Perry down to the minors, and trading Andrew Cogliano, their former Alternate Captain, for a potential prospect.

The Anaheim Ducks’ potential draft picks, however, are definitely on of the best in the league. In possession of 3 first round draft picks, the Anaheim Ducks will definitely have success written in their near future. They are also considering stripping Ryan Getzlaf of his captain’s position, as former head coach Bruce Boudreaux stated “Ryan simply just doesn’t have the leadership abilities to remain as the team captain.” The Anaheim Ducks definitely have a lot of changes coming their way, so I’d advise you to stay in touch with what is currently happening in the hockey world.

As the Ducks will not partake in the playoffs for the next few years, their team will definitely grow and expand to be one of the better teams in the NHL. They have went 2-7-1 in their last 10 games, recently losing 4-3 in overtime against the Los Angeles Kings. As they currently sit at the bottom of the league, the players have finally realized that this is simply just not going to be the year for them.
