The Tampa Bay Lightning haven’t had much success to talk about in their franchise. Many have been traded, and the team wasn’t good enough to enter the playoffs. Well, the tides have turned. The Tampa Bay Lightning are currently #1 in the National Hockey League, averaging a 0.7% win ratio. With players like Steven Stamkos, Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point, Ryan McDonagh, Victor Hedman, J.T. Miller, and Andrei Vasilevsky, one may think it is safe to say that this team is by far the most stacked team in the NHL.

The last two years have been absolutely stunning. Tampa Bay came out of nowhere, making one of the most lopsided trades in NHL history: Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh and J.T. Miller for Vladislav Namestnikov. After this trade, the team propelled themselves from roughly #20 to #1 over the course of a few weeks. Andrei Vasilevsky started to play out of his mind, and Nikita Kucherov came out of nowhere. Having 5 teammates in the 2018-2019 all star game, they have definitely improved and are proving to be the team to beat in the NHL.

Already having locked a playoff position, the Tampa Bay Lightning will partake in the 2019 NHL playoffs. Residing in first place, the Lightning will have a home ice advantage through their journey to win a Stanley Cup. As they played terribly and couldn’t surpass the filter to get into the playoffs, they have made drastic changes that have resulted in a lot of improvement.
