Twenty-nine year old Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, has announced his retirement on August 24, 2019. He said “This is the hardest decision of my life. But it is the right decision for me.” He was entering his eighth season in the NFL when he made his shocking decision. For his decision he received a lot of criticism. Steve Beuerlein, former pro bowl quarterback, said “His decision to walk away prior to the season affects his team, organization, fanbase and the entire NFL.” Even the fans booed Luck when he was walking off the field. Luck has had a rocky football career. He was drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft to the Indianapolis Colts. In his rookie year, he threw for 4,374 yards, setting a new rookie record. In his second season, he threw for over 4,000 yards again. His third season was much like the first two as he threw for 4,000 yards. Then in 2016, his fifth season, he had surgery to repair damage in his throwing arm. After sitting out the next season, he returned in 2018 and threw for over 4,000 yards and 39 touchdowns. During the off-season after his comeback season, he injured his calf, so he had to sit for most of the preseason games. But after the Colts third preseason game, he announced his retirement.
