Labor Day is coming up! Labor Day is a federal holiday where U.S citizens take a day off to honor the American Labor Movement and to pay tribute to all workers involved in creating the flawed, but great and improving society we live in right now. This holiday is celebrated on the first Monday of September. We are not the only ones who celebrate Labor Day. Over 80 countries acknowledge this holiday, but with different titles and dates. An example of this is International Workers’ day. This holiday is on the first day of May. The idea of Labor Day was first introduced in the 1880s. P.J McGuire is known as the founding father of Labor Day, but some people believe Matthew Maguire has founded Labor Day.

On this day, people tend to have picnics with friends and family, or go on a weekend vacation somewhere out of state. Some people may not do anything at all! Labor Day is also known as the unofficial end of summer because the cultural season summer is ending. On the Labor Day Weekend, companies and stores are setting up many sales and discounts, as it is usually a popular time for people to shop. Happy Labor Day and have a great 3-day weekend!
