Imagine you just received a test back. You can’t wait so you immediately look at your score. Your eyebrows go up. “What? How did I get this score?” We receive grades from assignments and tests that total up to our official grade at the end of the year. In middle school, we use a grade called GPA. (Grade Point Average) This new scoring system, different from Elementary, averages our grades and scores all in one. This is a very important score because it will reflect your future classes and decide what education you will receive. Students should try their best to get the best score they can because it truly matters. Some students don’t try and give up, leading to a less educated future. Grades do matter, and students should truly care about them. Luckily, we use PowerSchool, a work and status tracker for us, in school. This lets us see our grades effectively, while we’re at school.

While we may take it for granted, PowerSchool may not be with us forever. This tool was only designed to help us, not accomplish for us. To really move on, we must work and get into the habit of studying.  Middle school is the preparation for High School. High School is something to be serious about because your grades are really critical and important. This is because the grades, GPA, and credits influence your chances of being accepted to college. When you apply for college, it is not guaranteed that you will make it. Colleges look for the best students and hardest workers. If you wish to have a brighter future, start working harder. Study hard now and continue to do so. Practicing and training earlier will give you an advantage and will help you later in more advanced schooling and education.
