Is gum good for your health? Well according to the article, “Is Chewing Gum Bad For You” (Holly Van Hare), there are many health risks when you are chewing one piece of gum. One such risk when you are chewing gum is tooth decay. Most gum that you would buy has artificial sweetener to make it last longer and taste better. There are so many flavors of gum to choose from. There are also many brands that you could buy in stores. Some examples are mint gum, bubble gum and even watermelon. When you buy gum that has sugar in it and you chew it every single day, you are getting closer to getting cavities in your teeth. Another negative side effect of gum is jaw stress. When you chew a lot of gum you are moving your jaw a lot. So try not to chew gum every single day. Another one is stomach issues. When you are chewing gum you are using your mouth and you are swallowing your saliva. When you chew a lot of gum your brain thinks your eating. What most people do when they are done chewing gum is throw it in the trash. But there are some people that put it under the table or put it on the ground. The next time your chewing gum anywhere, make sure to throw it in the trash and not on the floor!
