Letter from the Editor in Chief

Letter from Editor-in-Chief, Courtney “Coco” Standley:

Courtney Standley 2021 Editor in Chief for Panther Park Press     Can you believe it? We made it! One year ago on Friday, March 13, 2020 life as we knew it changed forever, and now we’re faced with embracing a new normal. Talk about experiencing Junior High with “all the feels.” As one friend said, this past year had “More Issues Than Vogue,” and I can’t help but agree.

Becoming the Editor-in-Chief for Parks Panther Press has honestly been a dream of mine since the minute I found out Mrs. Halstead offered a Journalism elective. Broadcast Journalism, Mass Communications, and Media Relations are career paths I have wanted to pursue since I can remember. This is a very special opportunity, and I promise to strive to make this the best Parks Pather’s Press we’ve ever published.

I haven’t stopped thinking about all the different topics we’d share, but never in a million years did I think we’d have to alter our plans and include how to cope with a global pandemic. But our incredible staff of journalists and editors have been assigned, and we will be covering everything from Student Life, Arts & Entertainment, and Local and National Sports, to YOU! Yes, YOUParks Panther Press has always been about shedding light and highlighting what is so amazing about our school. So we’ve decided to bring it back OG-style, and not only discuss current events, but what are some cool things you are learning about in your elective courses? What trends in movies, music, gaming, and style have you found yourself interested in thanks to COVID-19?

TELL US! Don’t be shy. Mrs. Halstead and our staff here at Parks Panther Press want to hear from you! We want to know what you’d like for us to feature, what types of topics you’d be interested in reading about, and most of all, don’t be a stranger because we’re here to make these last few months before the summer break as entertaining as possible.

From a quick glance at our editorial calendar, we have plenty of fun stories ready to share, but this school paper is for ALL OF US. Perhaps you’d like to be a guest contributor to focus on something you’d like to share with our audience, or maybe you would like to have one of our talented team members help you compose an article or segment you feel is important to be highlighted. Do you know a student that is really going above and beyond? How about a teacher who is really helping you adjust through our new COVID-19 guidelines? If there is someone you think deserves to be featured, let us know! Just fill out the Parks Panther Press Suggestion Box below.

On behalf of our team of journalists at Parks Panther Press, thank you for making our online school publication the best in Fullerton!

Sincerely,

Courtney “Coco” Standley
