Samuel Yun was born on Nov. 27, 2008, on Thanksgiving Day. His Korean name is 준석. His name was chosen because it means “God has heard.” Though he has lived in Fullerton for 10 years now, he was born in Monrovia. One day, Samuel hopes to go to the East Coast for college, though he wants to stay where it’s warm for a job. Though he is proficient in each school subject, his favorite subject is and always will be language arts. Samuel takes after his parents who both majored in English, with his mom still teaching language arts today. Some favorite books of Samuels include The War That Saved My Life, The Lord of the Rings, and The City of Ember. Samuel loves the ocean and also swims at FAST, a highly regarded swim program. In addition, Samuel has experience in piano and currently plays the trumpet. An inspirational quote from JRR Tolkien that Samuel loves is that “Not all that wander are lost.” The quote reminds readers not all that choose a different path are wrong. This quote also promotes open-mindedness and the ability to see situations objectively.
