Mackenzie Yang, Contributor
Mackenzie Yang was born on September 23, 2009, close to the day that two large earthquakes hit midway between Samoa and American Samoa. She was born in Minnesota but moved to California shortly after with her parents and older brother. For elementary school, Mackenzie went to Sunset Lane Elementary and currently attends Parks Jr. High. Mackenzie’s mother works in education while her father works in marketing. Mackenzie’s favorite foods include Korean beef broth soup, various types of Chinese food, and desserts. If she had to choose one dessert, it would have to be Korean mochi (dduk). She also enjoys playing video games such as Minecraft, Pokemon Sword & Shield, and the Untitled Goose Game, feeding stray cats (Hoshi and Star), gardening, baking, listening to music, and reading. In the future, she plans on attending Sunny Hills High School and hopes to attend the University of British Columbia for college. One day she hopes to pursue a career in botany and genetically modified food. One of her favorite books is “The Art of War” by Sun Tzu, a Chinese philosopher and warlord. One of her favorite quotes from the literary work is, “If you know yourself, and you know your enemy, you need not fear the outcome of a hundred battles.”
