How Necessary is a College Education?

College is a very complicated process that many people go through in his/her life. Some would say that college is an important aspect of life that is necessary in order to have a successful future and job. People also say college is a place to develop many personal and professional skills. On the other hand, many disagree with the idea that college is the right path after graduating from high school. Some argue that college is unnecessary in order to be successful; there are many other occupations that provide a secure salary without having to spend tens of thousands of dollars and wasting another four years in school

Although both sides make some fair points, I believe that college is necessary and you should get at least a Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate’s Degree. People who graduate from college tend to get better opportunities, jobs, and salaries compared to those who only have a high school degree. According to “The College Payoff,” a report from the Georgetown University Center on Education, people with a Bachelor’s degree generally earn 75% more than those with just a high school diploma. And although there are some challenges that come with attending a university, there are countless benefits that outweigh the hardships. College graduates will have four years to prepare for adult life, interact with different groups of people, and expand their knowledge on various topics and subjects. All in all, receiving a college education is something every individual should pursue.
