Kate Licciardo was born on January 12, 2009, the same year the album “Fearless” by Taylor Swift was released. Kate was born and raised in California; she has moved 13 times, but currently lives in Fullerton. She has a younger brother and an older sister whom she loves dearly. Kate has many many hobbies. One thing that she has an unreasonable attachment to is bodies of water. This includes everything from oceans to lakes to swimming pools. Kate basically grew up at the beach and goes all the time, no matter the season. Another thing she does year-round is swimming for FAST, a well-known club swim team. She considers herself an…avid…reader. Her favorite books are Twilight,  the Throne of Glass series, The Fault in Our Stars, and Before I Fall. One thing she thought she would pursue through middle school, high school, and possibly even college, was playing the drums. At first, Kate was obsessed, and the band was her favorite class. She competed in music festivals, took private lessons, and was in the district honor band. She practiced all the time, she even had constant concerts and recitals. One day, she just decided to drop it. It was almost as if a weight had been lifted off her shoulders, a burden she didn’t even know she was bearing. Kate has no qualms about quitting percussion, it is now replaced by other things like art, speech and debate, friends, church, and swimming. All this to say, this story reminds Kate of a quote by Claire Cook, “If plan A doesn’t work, the alphabet has 25 more letters.”
