On April 19, 2023, the Parks Panthers defeated the Beechwood Bobcats 63-62 in a nail-biting ending. In the first half, the boys’ basketball team started out strong as they were up 5-0. But after just five minutes, the Bobcats adjusted their game plan and figured out what to do. Because of this, the Bobcats went into halftime leading 30-24. Throughout the game, the two teams fought back and forth; then, with just thirty seconds left, the Panthers were able to take the lead by a mere two points. However, Beechwood shot a lucky three, giving them a one-point lead. With the Panthers losing 61-62, Hudson Ploog took control of the ball with only 15 seconds on the clock. Hudson then passed the ball to Aristotle Miguel who took the ball up the court. With now only ten seconds left, Miguel passed the ball to Ezra Lee who was wide open for a three. He shot the ball and it barely rimmed out with only three seconds left. At this point, the Panthers accepted the fact they were going to lose and drop to the fourth seed. But then, out of nowhere, Ploog put the ball back up and make a basket just before the buzzer sounded. Everyone jumped up and down with joy as the Panthers secured the win and a spot in the playoffs.
