On Oct.17, 2023, soccer star Neymar got a devastating injury during the World Cup qualifying match between Brazil and Uruguay. Neymar, Brazil’s striker, was dribbling to pass the ball before he got bumped by midfielder Nicolas de la Cruz. Neymar suddenly fell to the ground, tearing his left ACL as well as his meniscus just 43 minutes into the game. He was immediately carted off the field for medical attention. After many tests, his tear was confirmed and he is set to have surgery as soon as possible, according to his current football club Al-Hilal. Neymar is very frustrated with another injury in his 2023 season, as he posted on X and Instagram stating, “It’s a very sad time, the worst, I know I’m strong, but this time I’m going to need my family and friends even more. It’s not easy to go through injury and surgery, imagine going through it all again after four months of recovery.” Brazil and soccer fans all over the world are praying for a speedy recovery as they wait for his return to the field.
