Kate Luengo

Kate Luengo, Contributor

Kate Luengo was born on February 9th, 2008. When she was born, her parents were completely shocked. Over the course of 9 months, her parents were expecting a set of twins, but unexpectedly, she was the only one that came out. Growing up, Kate had many close encounters with death. When she was 11 years old, Kate almost choked on a piece of candy. Fortunately, her brother was able to save her in time. Kate enjoys doing many things in her free time. One of Kate’s core memories is when she went to Tahoe with her family. On the drive up to Tahoe, her family had to drive through a blizzard. It was very scary, but the experience in Tahoe was amazing. Kate grew up playing different sports such as tennis, volleyball, and softball. Although she may have not been the best at each sport, her competitive spirit helped her a lot. Kate’s nickname from her dad is peanut because she looked like a peanut on her ultrasound pictures. Kate comes from a large family, and although it can sometimes be chaotic, it also ensures that she will get a lot of birthday presents. Her favorite quote is “It always seems impossible until it is done”-Nelson Mandela. This quote means that things may seem hard and unapproachable, however once you try it it seems accomplishable. This quote really resonates with Kate because sometimes she is intimidated by trying new things, but she continues to step out of her comfort zone by trying new things.
