The Greatest Final of All Time

The 2022 World Cup in Qatar was full of excitement, but the finals were out of this world. Throughout the tournament, there have been a lot of surprises, including an unexpected win from Japan against German or Brazil, the best country of football in the world, getting defeated by Croatia. However, the greatest match had to be the finals, where Argentina faced France. Even before the actual match started, there was a lot of anticipation and excitement. For Argentina, all eyes were on Lionel Messi, to see if one of the greatest football players ever would retire after this game. While for France, their team had the young prodigy Kylian Mbappé, who took the world by storm with his impressive skills. For the entire duration of the World Cup, both nations proved themselves worthy to be the champions, so it was down this one game to see who would come out on top.

The game began with fans cheering, coaches yelling, and players passing. Both teams seemed to be pretty equal, but only twenty minutes into the game, a penalty was called on France. Argentina chose Messi to do the penalty kick and he didn’t disappoint, giving his team their first goal of the night.  After about fifteen minutes, Ángel Di María scores another for Argentina, giving them a 2-0 lead. By halftime, the chances for France to win seem slim. However, in a reversal of fortune, Mbappé scores a penalty kick and a goal all in a matter of a couple of minutes. With the score 2-2, the game goes into overtime with Messi scoring first and Mbappé tying the game again with a hat-trick. Finally, the players faced off in tense penalty kicks, with Argentina scoring four goals and ultimately taking the trophy.
