The Life of Emma Watson

Who is the female friend of Harry Potter in the famous series? The answer: Hermione Granger, a character Emma Watson played for many years that helped catapult her into stardom. After the Harry Potter series ended, Emma Watson continued to star in numerous movies and shows that became immensely popular. However, there is much more to this individual than just her acting abilities. So just who is Emma Watson?

Emma Watson was born on April 15, 1990, in Paris, France, and has four siblings: Alex, Nina, Lucy, and Toby Watson. Watson’s parents divorced when she was young, so she and her brother went to live with their mother in Oxfordshire, England. In 2003, Watson went to Dragon School and discovered her passion for acting; as a result, she began attending Stagecoach Theatre Arts where she studied acting, singing, and dancing. After Watson graduated from Headington School, she moved to the United States to attend the prestigious Brown University. For Watson to attend university, she constantly switched back and forth from school to filming; according to the actress, she had difficulty with her schedule and said it was challenging to cope with. As someone who was immensely passionate about her education and acting career, Watson had to juggle her personal and professional life at a very young age.

When Watson was nine years should, she auditioned for Hermione Granger, officially starting her career as an actress. Along with the Harry Potter films, the actress continued to appear in numerous movies such as “The Tale of the Despereaux,” “The Bling Ring”, and “Beauty and the Beast.” Watson would go on to win many awards for her performances including the Young Artist Award, two Critics’ Choice Awards, and many more. When Watson finally stepped away from the Harry Potter world in 2011, she decided to pursue other avenues such as becoming a certified yoga and meditation instructor and earning a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Brown University. Furthermore, Watson dedicated more time to social issues when she was selected as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador to promote gender equality. 

Emma Watson is influential for many reasons. By portraying Hermione Granger, she allowed young girls all around the world to see a strong, smart, and talented female character on the big screen. Watson also takes the time to fight for international women’s rights and gender equality, encouraging women to use their voices and talents to make a difference in the world. Watson is an accomplished and talented actress who displayed her determination to make a positive influence on the world.

Claire Byun was born on October 18, 2010, the same year as when the 2010 Winter Olympics took place. She is Korean-American, and she travels to Korea at least once a year. Claire spent the first few years of her life in Los Angeles and moved to Fullerton when she was around four years old. She grew up with her parents and a younger brother named Ian, who is four years younger than Claire. Claire enjoys spending her free time doing numerous things. She enjoys reading dystopian books; her favorite book series are the Hunger Games and Scythe series. She likes to listen to Korean R&B as well as K-pop. Claire also takes pleasure in cooking and baking; she likes to create pastries and Korean food. Although Claire isn’t athletic, she has done many sports. Claire played tennis, golf, and badminton. She also did pilates, rock climbing, gymnastics, and ballet. She is always thankful to her parents for allowing her to try out these sports. Claire’s goal for the future is to attend a prestigious university and become a mathematician. One goal that Claire truly wants to achieve is to one day visit Europe and explore the countries because she has always been fascinated by the different cultures in Europe. One quote that inspires Claire to be a better version of herself is: “So be careful to live your life wisely, not foolishly.”
