The Latest on Taylor’s Tour in Theaters

The+Latest+on+Taylor%E2%80%99s+Tour+in+Theaters

On Oct. 13, 2023, Taylor Swift released her concert film, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” and it has become a smashing success as fans across the world now have the chance to see the event if they were unable to live. Released almost three weeks ago, it is now the highest-grossing concert movie of all time and has already made $160 million globally.

The public has been wondering how Taylor Swift was able to make this a success. One distinction between this movie and others includes the fact that this famous singer made a deal directly with theaters instead of using a Hollywood studio. Because of this, Swift and her team were able to choose the release date and keep a lot of the movie’s revenue as opposed to splitting it with a distributor. This daring move proved to be worth it since it only took about $10-20 million to make, meaning Swift’s team will take home hundreds of millions in profit.

Directed by Sam Wrench, the film showcases high-quality aerial shots, close-up footage, and clips of the singer and her dancers, making it an unforgettable experience for her fans. On top of this, the theaters AMC, Cinemark, and Regal are also offering Taylor Swift merchandise to add to the must-see event. This includes drinking cups and popcorn buckets containing the eras tour logo printed on them, friendship bracelets, and posters of Taylor Swift.

One key difference between the movie and the live concert was that Swift was sadly unable to give her audience the complete setlist. Due to the concert being over three hours long, the movie cut a few songs including fan favorites such as “The Archer,” “Cardigan,” “No Body, No Crime,” and “Wildest Dreams.” Although “Long Live” was also not performed in the film, the song ran over the ending credits.

Despite the concert film being shorter than the live event, fans were still able to enjoy the unique spectacle. For many, this would be their only chance to see the concert and for those who went to see her live, they are still experiencing the concert with a whole different view. Now, every single person in the audience has a clear and up-close perspective of the singer and all of the stage designs. Additionally, Swift included acoustic performances of “Our Song” and “You’re On Your Own Kid,” two songs she only sang at a few of her concert venues.

Now that the concert has hit theaters, many have been wondering if the “Eras Tour” will be sent to a streaming service. As of now, there has been no indication that the movie will be available on any streaming services after its theatrical run. But it’s not too late to get tickets! The movie will be in cinemas for 13 weeks after its release, which means it will run until January 2024. Only time can tell whether this movie will continue selling out just as the concerts did.
