On Nov. 10, 2023, South Korean boy group, Stray Kids, unleashed their eighth extended play, “Rock-Star,”stylized as 樂-STAR. Released under their labels, JYP Entertainment and Republic Records, the album came five months after the publication of their third album, “5-Star.” The compilation of songs was based on the Korean four-character idiom of sentiments huiroaerak, which features the emotions pleasure, anger, sorrow, and happiness. The album’s tracklist, with a duration of 25 minutes and 27 seconds, consists of eight tracks with “Lalalala” playing the role of lead single. 3Racha – an in-house production team of Stray Kids members Bangchan, Changbin, and Han –, worked and produced all songs on the album, with member Hyunjin co-writing the fifth piece, “Cover Me”. Further contributors include Versachoi, Cubeatz, Willie Weeks, Millionboy, Nikko Young, and Jun2. When it was released, “Rock-Star” conquered national charts in South Korea, Austria, Hungary, Japan, Poland, and the United States. The EP was detailed as a powerful album, charging strength and energy to the band’s spirit, showcasing the rock star aspect and freedom lying within the group.
