Jeon So-yeon

Jeon+So-yeon

Jeon So-yeon is known for being one of the fastest female rappers on the scene right now. So-yeon was born on Aug. 26, 1998, in Seoul, South Korea, to parents Ju Hye-kyung and Jeon Byeong-hwa. Although she attended Kuryong Elementary School, she began homeschooling because she couldn’t fit in with other students. As a result, she had some time at home to sing and dance which developed her love for music.

Now she is a South Korean rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer for Cube Entertainment. Furthermore, she is the leader of a girl group called (G)I-DLE and a member of the League of Legends group called K/DA. Her group, (G)I-DLE, debuted in 2018 when she was just 19 years old and became a huge hit. During this time, So-yeon became the first female artist to single-handedly write a mini album and is the 5th most KOMCA (Korean Music Rights Association) credited female artist with 73 songs.

Despite her worldwide fame and success, things haven’t always been smooth sailing. In the beginning, she attended 20 to 30 auditions at K-pop companies, but unfortunately, she failed all of them. Now, despite her success, she must deal with online hate as many criticize her for the Line Distribution and are said to hog all the lines in (G)I-DLE songs, even though she is the fastest female rapper and is the leader of the group. Although she has to deal with some obstacles, Neverland, the group’s fandom name, still loves and supports their picky eater leader.

So-yeon continues to achieve awards and break records today. The entertainer is an all-rounder idol in the K-pop industry, and her fastest rap on record is 8.3. She and her group make hit comebacks from every song and So-yeon has also established herself as a “producer-dol.” She continues to improve every day and it’s obvious she’s just getting started. Have you ever heard of her songs?

Kaylene lives with her parents, younger brother, and her younger sister. She had lived in Fullerton for a few years and then moved two times. She now lives in La Habra, and can still attend Parks Jr. High thanks to her grandparents. She loves to perform onstage while dancing or singing. Kaylene also plays volleyball and likes to play games with her friends. When she has some free time, Kaylene loves to read her books until late at night. Her friends mean the world to her, and loves to go shopping and karaoke with them. When she grows older she would like to attend Hanlim High School in Seoul, Korea. She would also love to attend UC Berkeley University. Her goal in life is to become a professional singer or dancer in the future and continue to stay connected with her friends. A quote that inspires her is by Carol Burnett, “When you have a dream, you’ve got to grab it and never let go.”
