Introducing Olivia Rodrigo

Introducing+Olivia+Rodrigo

Olivia Isabel Rodrigo was born in California on Feb. 20, 2003, making her a Pisces Sun with a Libra Moon, a “Spicy Pisces” as she likes to call herself. When she was born, her grandfather did her astrology charts and predicted that she would be a performing artist and extremely emotional. She said that those words could not describe her any more accurately.

Rodrigo attended Lisa J. Mails Elementary School when she was younger, participating in her school’s theater program where she was able to act, sing, and dance for an audience and continued to perform when she went to Dorothy McElhinney Middle School. In 2015, she booked her first big commercial for Old Navy and then released her first film,  “Grace Stirs up Success;” that same year, she landed her first Disney Channel role for an upcoming series called “Bizaardvark” and her Disney career expanded from there. In 2019, Rodrigo starred in“High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” where she played Nini Salazar-Roberts, a theater student who attended East High School. Sadly, Rodrigo made the hard decision of leaving the show after completing three seasons of shooting.

In early 2021, Rodrigo released her debut song, “drivers license” which instantly got recognition and fame. Because of this, she released her second song, “deja vu” which was almost just as successful. People from all over the world were streaming her songs which led to her wanting to put together her first ever album. With the help of her producer, Dan Nigro, she put together her first album, “SOUR,” which debuted in May of 2021. The album got millions of views and her songs shot to the top of the music charts. To build off of the success of her debut album, Roridgo went on a worldwide tour, performing at venues around the country and meeting fans who loved her music. After the release of “SOUR,” fans were eager to hear more music from the superstar. So this past June, Rodrigo  released “vampire” as the lead single to  her sophomore album, “GUTS.” Over the years, Rodrigo has won many awards for her music. Some of them being three Grammys for her work on “SOUR” back in 2022, five MTV awards, a People’s Choice Award, Kids Choice Awards (both for music and her work on Disney Channel), Brit Award for Song of the Year, and a Billboard Music Award for Top Hot 100 Artists.

Now, Olivia Rodrigo has been nominated for six Grammys for the 2024 awards ceremony. Despite all of the success and awards, Rodrigo isn’t taking a break and says that she is already working on creating new songs for her listeners and is coming up with ideas for her next four-letter album.
